Living in such a beautiful part of the world we are driven and inspired to try to mininize our environmental inpact, so all of the heating and hot water for Nelson Barn is provided by our Bio Mass wood burner. We burn off cuts from the furniture business and local wind fall timber that we log ourselves.
When we renovated the barn we knew we wanted our guests to feel warm and cosy at all times, so we insulated from the floors up to the rafters with thermal boarding. This combined with new wooden sliding sash double glazed windows and doors throughout, Nelson Barn will keep you snug even in the worst of Cumbrian weather!
Recycling bags are provided and our nearest recycling centre is just next door, behind Kaber village hall, funds from the recycling collected here go to support the up keep of the hall.
We have tried to buy British where ever we can and have worked with some fabulous British designers/makers.
